Where to start?
After a slow start with setting up blogs and wondering to begin I've finally set my mind on a plan. However, the planning is all in my head so now it's time to blog and put thoughts into actions. I opted to do the print task because I feel more comfortable doing so than a video but not so comfortable that it will be easy!
It seemed obvious to me to use my favourite magazine 'Rock Sound' as a style model as I know it better than any other. To elaborate on this I will annotate the front cover, contents and double page spread as it is those pages that will be required of my own magazine. To further my planning it is crucial for me to do some research into the current market. Although my magazine will be based within the rock genre i will be investigating through my peers which bands people are most interested in and what they look for in a music magazine. I will go about asking people through questionnaires or asking them to choose which magazine they like best.
My inspiration, Rock Sound, has a vast mix of music that people haven't heard of before within the rock genre and probably wouldn't buy the music if just those bands were listed in the magazine and that is why I think 'Rock Sound' ALWAYS feature a global band on the front cover and double page interviews because they know this Will draw potential buyers in yet at the same time they are giving less well known bands a chance and letting people know that paramore and BMTH aren't the only bands out there pumping out commercial music for the masses.
So for now, I will get analysing and reading through other peoples blogs looking for ideas and ways to go about about my print task.
